TIMBER TREATMENT

Timber treatments are methods used to protect wood from decay, insects, and weathering. These include pressure treatments (where chemicals are forced into the wood), surface treatments like stains and oils, heat treatments for enhanced durability, and borate treatments to prevent pests. Other options, like creosote and fire retardants, provide specific protections. The right treatment depends on the wood’s intended use and environmental exposure, ensuring it remains strong and long-lasting.

CCA TREATMENT

CCA (Chromatid Copper Arsenate) Treatment is a type of pressure treatment used to preserve wood and protect it from decay, insects, and fungi. It involves the application of a chemical solution containing copper, chromium, and arsenic, which is forced deep into the wood fibers under pressure.

While effective, CCA-treated wood should be handled with care, especially when used in residential settings or where there is direct contact with soil or water, due to the toxicity of the chemicals.

Key features of CCA treatment:

-Exceptional Durability

-Superior Resistance

-Pressure Infused Treatment

-Cost Effective

CCA-treated wood is now restricted in residential use, though it continues to dominate in industrial applications, offering unmatched durability and protection.

LOSP TREATMENT

LOSP (Light Organic Solvent Preservative) Treatment is a wood preservation method that uses a solvent-based solution to protect wood from decay, insects, and fungal growth. Unlike pressure-treated wood, LOSP treatment involves soaking the wood in a mixture of organic solvents, such as mineral spirits, combined with preservatives like copper, fungicides, and insecticides.

It also preserves the wood’s natural appearance, maintaining its color and grain without darkening it. LOSP is commonly used for decking, fencing, cladding, child care and garden furniture, making it a cost-effective and environmentally friendly choice for above-ground outdoor structures.

Key Features of LOSP Treatment:

-Lower Environmental Impact

-Non-Invasive Application

-Preserves Natural Appearance

-Lightweight Protection

Overall, LOSP treatment offers an effective, environmentally safer, and aesthetically pleasing solution for wood preservation, particularly in residential applications.
