Treated Pine Decking

Treated Pine Decking in Melbourne

Treated pine decking is an affordable, easy-to-work option for backyard decks, platforms and landings. Our boards are H3 treated for above-ground outdoor use and come in common widths and lengths, so you can build a new deck or replace worn boards. It suits DIY homeowners and builders after a straight, consistent board that takes stain or oil well.

Choosing the right treated pine decking

  • Treatment level: H3 suits decking boards above ground. Joists and bearers close to the ground, and posts in the ground, need H4 or higher.
  • Board size: 90x22mm is the most common profile; wider boards mean fewer fixings but need careful spacing for drainage.
  • Joist spacing: follow the board's span rating, usually around 450mm centres for 22mm thick pine decking.
  • Fixings: use galvanised or Class 3 decking screws, and leave a gap of a few millimetres between boards.
  • Finishing: oil or stain soon after installation to reduce cracking and weathering.
