Short belt for handheld machines – Ideal complement for universal sanding

The short belt for handheld machines LS 309 XH by Klingspor has been developed especially for portable belt sanders. It is therefore available in a variety of widths and lengths and will fit on all common belt sanders from different manufacturers. Used for surface treatment, the short belt for handheld machine is also highly versatile in terms of the materials in can process, i.e. metal, wood, filler, varnish, paint, and NF metal.

Supplied in Retail packs for trade, commerce and industry

Klingspor offers the short belt for handheld machines in Retail packs. This packaging provides for the best possible presentation at the retailer. Also offering excellent protection, the packaging is ideal for warehousing at craftsman companies and industrial businesses. Stored in a clearly visible manner, the abrasive belt is always within easy reach in the warehouse and safely protected against damage. The packaging also ensures that the belt can be kept smooth and undamaged in the toolbox until it needs to be used.

Using hard and tough abrasive grain for high removal rates

The basis for the structure of the short belt for handheld machines LS 309 XH by Klingspor is formed by an X-cotton backing. This natural cloth has been processed in a way that guarantees exceptionally high tear resistance. The abrasive belt is also flexible enough for use on a portable belt sander. The grain used is corundum, a synthetic grain made of aluminium oxide. Corundum is marked by its particular hardness and toughness. Boasting a crystalline and irregular shape, the grain is blocky and shows macro wear characteristics during use. Wearing down slowly, it offers high removal rates throughout its entire useful life. Klingspor uses synthetic resin for this short belt for handheld machines to provide for secure and stable bonding. The close coating of the grain ensures a long service along with outstanding abrasive performance. Such products require a secure connection of the two ends of the belt. This is why the short belt for handheld machines LS 309 XH is closed with an overlapping joint connection. This overlap joint - with no resin or abrasive grain in the overlap area - has excellent reliability.

Accessories – backing pad ST 358 medium for finish grinding and rust removal

Ultra robust and durable abrasives are a must when it comes to grinding tasks that require a high removal rate. This is why users usually opt for fibre discs when handling these jobs, i.e. fibre discs with a backing made of vulcanised fibre. A flexible backing pad – such as the Klingspor ST 358 – is a better choice for surface and finish grinding.

For finish grinding jobs that call for a flexible backing pad Unlike its sibling, the hard backing pad ST 358 A ribbed, the backing pad ST 358 medium offers good adaptation and shapes to the contours of the workpiece. Performing especially well during surface and finish grinding, this all-purpose tool offers a superb level of temperature resistance.

ST 358 – backing pad comes in various sizes and versions The backing pad ST 358 is equipped with a locking nut for the fibre discs. It is important to make sure that the diameter of the backing pad matches the size of the fibre disc.

Grinding at high speed with the backing pad ST 358 Every fibre disc comes with a specification of its maximum speed, which must not be exceeded: 13,300 rpm at a disc diameter of 115 mm; 12,200 rpm at 125 mm; 8,500 rpm at 180 mm.
