Treated Pine Sleepers

Treated Pine Sleepers in Melbourne

Treated pine sleepers are the most economical way to build garden beds, edging, steps and low retaining walls. Ours are H4 treated for in-ground contact, light enough to handle without machinery and easy to cut with a circular saw. They suit DIY homeowners building raised veggie beds and landscapers needing straight, consistent sleepers for low walls.

Choosing the right treated pine sleepers

  • Treatment: H4 is the minimum for sleepers in contact with soil; seal cut ends with a preservative.
  • Thickness: use 75mm or thicker for retaining; 50mm sleepers suit edging and garden beds.
  • Height: treated pine is best for walls under about 1m; taller walls usually call for concrete sleepers and engineering.
  • Posts: pair with galvanised steel H-posts or C-posts, or timber posts, set in concrete.
  • Drainage: lay ag pipe and gravel behind the wall to stop water building up.

Compare with Cypress Sleepers, MicroPro Sienna Sleeper and Concrete Sleepers, or see AGI Pipes.
