SmartJoist Blocking 249mm @ 300mm ctr SJB240249H2S

This H2S SmartJoist blocking piece is 249 mm long (24.9 cm), cut to fit between the 51 mm flanges of a 240 mm SmartJoist at 300 mm centres.

Installation

• It keeps the joists upright, carries vertical load through the floor and restrains the joist end.
• Both guides' simple method is blocking or SmartRim at every joist end on an external load-bearing wall, face-nailed with 3.15 mm by 65 mm nails at 150 mm centres.
• Do not load the floor until this blocking, the hangers, the rim, the nailing and the bracing are in place.
• A hole may reach two-thirds of the 240 mm depth only if the piece is at least eight times the hole.
• The Design Guide allows a 160 mm hole on a piece at least 1280 mm long, which this 249 mm block is not.
• Do not cut a flange.

Treatment

H2S is inside, above ground, south of the Tropic of Capricorn, against borers and termites, and the shape is not for outside use.

Storage

• The Design Guide limits moisture content to 18 percent and does not guarantee weather exposure past 90 days.
• The Installation Guide untreated note uses 20 percent.
• Keep packs off the ground.
• The Design Guide says store material flat under a breathable cover, and both guides also say stack joists upright.
